Fast Pitch Softball Survey

Listed below is a request from from Julia Fink regarding a fast pitch survey for pitchers.  Please read below...

I hope you all have been safe and healthy during this pandemic. My name is Julia Fink and I am an Orthopedic Surgery resident at the Hughston Clinic in Columbus, GA. I have spent most of my life from 6 years old to college playing softball. I grew up playing in a recreational league and progressed to travel ball at age 12. I was blessed to pitch for four years at Valdosta State University, where we won the NCAA Division II national championship in 2012. My history with softball, as well as injuries while playing softball, is what inspired me to become an orthopedic surgeon. I am writing to you today to ask for your help. I am starting a research study to evaluate the evolving pitching regimens of female youth fastpitch softball pitchers and their associated injuries. I have attached the link to a survey below to be completed by any female fastpitch softball pitcher between the ages of 8-18. I would like to ask for your permission to send this directly or if you would distribute to the coaches in your region for young pitchers to complete. The survey has been approved by our Institutional Review Board for research studies and is completely anonymous. There is a parent/guardian consent to be accepted at the beginning of the survey.

I only hope that I can give back to the sport that has given me so much. Thank you all for your help and consideration, this would not be possible without you! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me

  • Insurance
    • USA Softball is currently working on the possibility of what the insurance parameters could look like in the midst of this pandemic.  Various options are being reviewed at this time but the idea of extended coverage is the centerpiece.  We hope to have some answers in the coming days.  Please be mindful, if you are training in any way, team or individual, you are not covered unless your registration has been processed.  Look for a communication on these scenarios from our state office.

We will continue to monitor all information that is coming to us from local, state, and federal officials regarding COVID-19. Again, the safety and well-being of our athletes, umpires, and staff, is our priority. We will update as needed.

USA Softball All American Games

As of right now, USA Softball is still planning to host the 12U All American Games at Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City the weekend of August 14-16.  This is the fourth year of the event.  Video tryouts took place and a single team representing Region 6 has been chosen.  Upon all details being finalized, the team roster will be announced.  A special thank you to our coaches...Mike Egenes, Greg Jones, and Dawn Jones for keeping this option in place!

Please be mindful that there is also the possibility that the national event in Oklahoma City could be cancelled.  We will do our best to keep you as informed as we can when information becomes available.  For now, the links listed below will give you a better idea of what the event is and how it works in Oklahoma City.  And, again, the video tryout information is now updated, too.  Please check it out!
